    Founded in 2012, Lumen Learning uses open educational resources (OER) to provide affordable course materials that improve learning and replace expensive textbooks in high-enrollment college courses. Over 400 institutions across the U.S. use Lumen's award-winning digital courseware for in-person, online, and blended courses.


    • Holding 1:1s for a cohort of 5 team members at all skill levels
    • Managing hiring for the front-end team, as well as updating engineering hiring and onboarding processes
    • Organizing and running team meetings, including sprint planning and retrospectives


    • Responsible for scoping, planning and implementing front-end features and bug fixes across our products
    • Providing guidelines to developers and content team for creating inclusive and accessible markup and testing with screen readers
    • Collaborating with product owners and designers to successfully estimate and complete projects

    Fractured Atlas builds software and provides services to help over 500,000 artists and arts organizations handle the business side of their work, like raising money, tracking donors and selling event tickets.


    • Managed UX team, including holding 1:1s and setting team priorities
    • Served as project lead for crowdfunding and fundraising tool, including organizing and running team meetings and retrospectives


    • Provided coding guidelines for writing maintainable Sass and inclusive and accessible markup
    • Wrote and reviewed front-end code
    • Built and deployed design system to establish a consistent look and feel across a variety of applications
    • Created site wireframes and prototypes to improve internal discussions and planning about site features and organization


    • Developed and presented all-staff training on accessibility testing and best practices
    • Provided guidance on the organization's transition to being wholly virtual/remote (including being featured on our blog)

    Detroit Trading Company aggregates in-market automotive shopper intelligence, providing data that is responsible for more than $1 billion in monthly car sales.


    • Collaborated across the company, including CEO, .NET and Angular developers, designer and sales, to advocate for UX and to complete successful projects


    • Led A-B testing of lead-generation forms to increase engagement and conversion. Lead funnel conversion increased from ~5% to more than 10% through improvements to copy, design and mobile layout.
    • Responsible for front-end development of our brand sites ( and, online automotive shopping tools (for brands such as Time, AutoGuide, CNET and Kmart) and data-driven dashboards for our clients
    • Created brand style guide and built component-based Sass stylesheets to make development more efficient
    • Prepared site wireframes and prototypes to improve internal discussions and planning about site features and organization
  • Freelance Web Designer + Developer

    Sep 2004 – Jun 2014

    Designed and coded web sites for clients, including small and mid-size businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions and individuals. Majority of projects were bespoke WordPress sites, including custom themes, custom content types and custom plugin development. Handled lead generation and client relations and education/training.

  • National Women In Tech Nonprofit

    Baltimore chapter leader and teacher from 2013–2017. Organized and presented hands-on workshops for women to learn web and software development. Coordinated teachers and volunteer teaching assistants across a wide variety of tech subjects. Built relationships with local companies and nonprofits who can provide space for our classes or other sponsorship opportunities. At the time I stepped down, the chapter had 1500+ members and had hosted 60+ events.
